Pork Tacos.
I decided tonight was the PERFECT (TacoTuesday) night for those Slow Cooker Pork tacos everyone keeps talking about.  Well I bought the 3 Pasilla chiles. But I couldn’t find Ancho chiles ANYWHERE.  So I thought… I’ll improvise with a jalapeno, a yellow pepper, and one baby habanero. I just made the spiciest sauce in the WORLD to cook the pork in. Hopefully it just seasons the...

Current Pout.
It’s Drew’s Birthday! Yay! Happy Birthday to him!  I got him a cake. The more generic and store made, the more he likes it. Yay Yay. Sing a song. So baby…. you want a piece?!?!?! yes. a piece of cake. you know you want it. Him: Nah it’s too early.  Now I have to suffer through the torture of wanting that piece of cake, but not being able to have a slice. WHY GOD...

It's a rainy rainy day.
I love the change in weather. I actually ache for days like today. Days where I don’t get too hot in my boots. Days that call for sweatshirts.  Today is a rainy cool day in West Hollywood. The problem is, with my job, rain makes my days crazy. Leaks everywhere! California buildings aren’t meant for rain! Emergency! Sirens! No one can drive anywhere! Madness!  It’s...

On my super not so good but at least I did something run this evening there were random pieces of smashed or halved fruit on the sidewalk. It really made me think about what in the world was happening here before I was. But then I started thinking about how I probably didn’t want to know. What with the severed head that was found were I hike the other day.  I’m really just a small...

Tuesday, you sly dog you.
Dinner last night was amazing. If you are into meat, make it.  Apparently rain is coming this weekend. Melinda needs to finish The Help so we can have a movie night.  Tonight is for Taco Tuesday! Lobster taco get ready to be in my belly. I have a new song swimming around in my head, I need to get it down on paper before it’s gone.

Oxtails. What you sayyyy?
Tonight’s dinner will be slow braised Oxtails.  First things first: I heat up a large amount of olive oil in a pan. I wait until I can smell it, that means it’s ready for the meat! Then I brown the (salt and peppered) tails on each side and set them aside. I use one onion and a LARGE spoonful of garlic, tonight I used a red onion- just because I like to add as much color to my...

Chip. The doggie.
Everyone meet Chip. Chip is the first dog I have volunteered with for Ace of Hearts animal rescue. He is currently at the vet, awaiting surgery, as he was abandoned by his owners at their foreclosed house. He is severely underweight. A little skittish. And pulls on the leash.  But he deserves a second chance at love. So if you would like to adopt Chip, and show him that life isn’t always...

Work and other people's homes.
It is apart of my job to do quarterly plumbing inspections. (I know how jealous you are of my job right now) So I have to go into all these people’s apartments.  It just feels weird. and wrong. and icky.  Sometimes I’m jealous of their amazing decor. Other times I’m grossed out and feel like I need a shower after. Either way it stresses me out and I think it’s an...

Celebrating little accomplishments.
I know I’m not a big time runner like most of you out there. But this morning I ran 2 miles without stopping. Not even once. I felt like this:

In the past 24 hours.
I have gone on 2 runs. Walked for over an hour to all of my buildings posting notices. Eaten a Chipotle Burrito bowl without rice… oh the sacrifices! (Actually didn’t miss the rice! Shocked!) Returned Time Warner Cable boxes! Freedom from the worst company out there! Whoop Whoop! Saw Pauly from Jersey Shore running.  Tweeted him saying that his hair doesn’t move. Got a...

Feels like Summer, Looks like Fall.
It has been unseasonably hot here these last few days. 95 degrees makes it hard to believe that it is actually January.  I am constantly in awe of the different flowers and all around greenness that I come across year round out here.  So Yesterday I took a little walk around Home Sweet (west) Hollywood, and I found a little bit of what at least looks like a season change. So naturally, I gave...

So this whole new years resolution thing is for the birds.  I’m all for making changes. A new year. A new start. But it seems like everyone throws out unrealistic resolutions and then when they don’t meet them- no change at all.  “Oh well, I didn’t do it. Back to my old ways” That’s why I think this year, I’ll do it a little bit differently.  I’m...

A Christmas to remember.
Christmas 2011 will forever be the first one I got to spend with Drew. We laughed about how when we first met, we’d be heading off to camp the day after Christmas, the very best present of all was getting to be back around each other, after 6 months away. But this Christmas, this Christmas we were already together, already tangled up in each other. I cooked an actual Goose. This is not...

Start.Stop.Start.Stop.
When I left Telluride Colorado in January of last year, I was in the best shape of my life!  Hiking, skiing, running, no fast food, altitude, healthy cooking with my brother. It wasn’t even a plan or something I was working towards, it just happened.  Since being in Los Angeles, I’ve put on the pounds- but worse than that I have completely gotten out of that amazing shape I was...

On moving across the country.
I can’t think of a time when I wanted to stay in my small little town. From a very young age all I wanted to do was get out of there. So I went to college, still dreaming of being far away. Dreaming of exploring. Travelling. Finding myself surrounded by strangers.  After school, I got the itch. The feeling of being discontented. I wanted to do more, see more, BE more. So I applied to the...
