My friend Laura reminded me last night that I should switch it up with long curls. It’s SO easy and I really always love the end result.
Last night we went down to LA Live. Played air hockey and fake bowling at the ESPN Zone. Dinner at the Yardhouse. and my very first Professional basketball game. Lakers WON! It was a splendid night. Splendid.

So I’ve officially started my Food Review Blogity Blog. My first post:
Animal Restaurant Los Angeles, CA
http://eatherenotthere.tumblr.com/post/16481145152/this-restaurant-was-the-perfect-spot-for-my-first
It was so good, so so so good.
We got all dressed up.

Drank Champagne and I stole a few smooches.

And we went to Animal for the best dinner ever.
Tonight we are going to the Lakers vs. the Clippers. It will be my first professional Basketball game. I’m really excited.
Happy Birthday to the love of my life.
It’s Drew’s Birthday! Yay! Happy Birthday to him!
I got him a cake.
The more generic and store made, the more he likes it.

Yay Yay. Sing a song. So baby…. you want a piece?!?!?!
yes.
a piece of cake.
you know you want it.
Him: Nah it’s too early.
Now I have to suffer through the torture of wanting that piece of cake, but not being able to have a slice. WHY GOD WHYYYYYY!?!?!
Me:

I love the change in weather. I actually ache for days like today. Days where I don’t get too hot in my boots. Days that call for sweatshirts.
Today is a rainy cool day in West Hollywood.

The problem is, with my job, rain makes my days crazy.
Leaks everywhere! California buildings aren’t meant for rain! Emergency! Sirens! No one can drive anywhere! Madness!
It’s definitely not a slow casual rainy day, like it would be in North Carolina.
I just died over this. I LOVE THEM.
NPH and David sing Take Me Or Leave Me. My wife and I sing this WAY too often…I’m sure we sound just as good…right?

Sometimes when I’m not feeling particularly va va voom I’ll slap on some red lips and big hoops, throw my hair in a messy ponytail and decide I’m just going to have fun no matter what. (Taken with instagram)

On my super not so good but at least I did something run this evening there were random pieces of smashed or halved fruit on the sidewalk.
It really made me think about what in the world was happening here before I was.
But then I started thinking about how I probably didn’t want to know. What with the severed head that was found were I hike the other day.
I’m really just a small town girl, seriously trying to pretend I’m not afraid of this city. But I am.
All of this because of fruit. Fruit is not scary.
Dinner last night was amazing. If you are into meat, make it.
Apparently rain is coming this weekend. Melinda needs to finish The Help so we can have a movie night.
Tonight is for Taco Tuesday! Lobster taco get ready to be in my belly.
I have a new song swimming around in my head, I need to get it down on paper before it’s gone.
Tonight’s dinner will be slow braised Oxtails.

First things first:
I heat up a large amount of olive oil in a pan. I wait until I can smell it, that means it’s ready for the meat! Then I brown the (salt and peppered) tails on each side and set them aside.

I use one onion and a LARGE spoonful of garlic, tonight I used a red onion- just because I like to add as much color to my meal as possible.

Onion First, garlic at the end. I sautee them in the oil from browning the meat.

Next I add a half cup of red wine (i never measure though) a cup of beef broth (still no measuring) and a heaping spoonful of tomato paste. Stir and reduce.

Pour mixture on top of meat in the crockpot or into a baking dish that is tightly covered with aluminum, add carrots and celery. (peas or whatever veggies you want or have around. Mushrooms ect.) If cooking in the oven let bake at 300 for at least 3 hours (the longer the better) I use the 8 hr setting on my crockpot which is low and slow.

I am going to make mashed potatoes tonight, but I’ll often make rice or breaded and fried noodles to go with this dish.
Hearty, yummy, and this is the same way I make my short ribs. The oxtails just ad a bit of savory goodness and excitement.
Enjoy! I know I will!
